Welcome
to the Eau Claire Jail website
sponsored by the Citizens for Accountable Judicial
Expansion (CAJE)
Eau
Claire has seen too many historic landmarks
demolished, and more will follow in the Historic
Randall Park neighborhood if jail expansion
proceeds at its current location. Help us save
historic homes, vital businesses and valuable
downtown real estate!

an off-site Justice Center

Courthouse
Electrical Fire
The
Eau Claire County Courthouse had an
electrical fire on May 12th that closed
down courthouse operations for 2 days.
Due to generators, the jail remained
operational.
Coverage
If
inmates needed to evacuate what would
have happened?
CAJE has stressed that the current footprint
does not support a secure safe evacuation
plan that protects citizens and the
incarcerated population.
Another
test - FAILED -
for plans to locate the jail on limited
space downtown.

Readers React to Jail Site Decision
CAJE
realizes that construction jobs are important
to Eau Claire County's economy. That is why
CAJE is NOT opposed to building the jail
and courts...in the right location.
Eau Claire County has had about a year to come
up with a solution that meets the county's needs,
does not destroy the Historic Randall Park Neighborhood
and is an investment in the City of Eau Claire's
tax base...NOT the creation of a nontaxable
government structure on prime downtown/river
front space.
